When I think back to our humble beginnings in late 2012, it’s hard to believe all that’s happened. From Twitter(@gfyyc), to events, to our GFYYC Goodie Bags, our community has grown to engage over 30,000 people entirely. I believe, hope (and know from some of your beautiful Facebook comments) that we’ve made an impact – helping to support anyone living gluten-free, primarily in Calgary, but even beyond. We continue to see more and more products out there made with us in mind, and more and more local restaurants are putting efforts in place to create food safe (and delicious) for us to enjoy. I’m extremely grateful to see these trends and am proud that we have been a part of the movement.

Favorite GF food: Pasta
I was diagnosed with Celiac disease in August 2008. It was not an awesome time. Legit, the first words out of my mouth (in between sobs) were “I can’t eat pizza or drink beer!” I was lucky to have been handed a diagnosis when the industry was starting to be more inclusive. I struggled eating out and navigating my way for a few years. However, it’s finally getting better. I had been following GFYYC for a couple of years and when I saw that Tessa was considering closing the doors I had this overwhelming feeling. This is what I am meant to do. I can’t sit back and watch this disappear. So here I am the new owner of GFYYC! It’s been a whirlwind getting this up and going and I can’t wait to see how much we can grown!
