As you all know, we love letting you know about all the best places and opportunities to eat truly amazing gluten-free food in Calgary. You may have read Markus’ review of the amazing food and atmosphere available at Cibo Calgary, and thought to yourself “when can I get me some of that?” Good news! Cibo is hosting a gluten-free dinner in honour of Celiac Awareness Month (May) on May 2!
Tickets are now available for purchase here at the low, low price of $49 – and for what you’ll get, this is an incredible steal. (Wine pairing is available for an additional $29).
Feel free to get in touch with us with any questions. We look forward to seeing all of you there as we celebrate living the gluten-free life in high style!

Celiacs have waited, patiently, for a time when gluten-free choices could finally compete. And not just with each other, but with the best available food on the market, shouldering their way onto specialty vendor’s shelves and our pantries alike, delicious, wholesome, and with artisanal taste and quality for their own sake, without the “alternative-and second-best” label that Gluten Free used to mean.

In November, we were so pumped to work with Phil & Sebastian Marda Loop to host our first ever Gluten-Free Get-Together! We took over the back of the Marda Loop café and the incredible P&S staff provided a full complement of their entire (fabulous) gluten-free menu for tasting. Read More

Signed, sealed and delivered! On Tuesday, September 20th, 2016, we officially delivered the first shipment of the GFYYC Goodie Bags to subscribers in and around the city of Calgary.
We’re happy to report that we were able to fill our first goodie bag with over $58 worth of “goodies” contributed by various local businesses. Here’s what we had inside:
Local favourite The Coup provided each subscriber a copy of their cookbook full of recipes to be tried out at home. Paterson’s Cabin hand-crafted Celiac-safe lip balms for each and every person. Vin Room provided gift cards inviting subscribers to come into their Mission or West Side location and enjoy complimentary amuse-bouches for up to six people. And there was even something sweet! Cookie Mama submitted a buy one get one free coupon to pop in and grab a cupcake or a cookie.
We are now hard at work putting together all the details for our next shipment, to be sent out this December. We are looking for local businesses that offer gluten-free products (food or beauty) as well as restaurants in and around the city that feature gluten-free items on their menu. We want to be able to connect our large gluten-free community with all the businesses that are out there working hard to create and provide options for them—and this is how we plan to do it!
We have committed to one full year, with four shipments—one per season. And if it goes well, we’ll keep it going after that!
Registrations are officially open for next shipment, so if you haven’t already signed up—do it fast!

Calgary is full of awesome restaurants all over town, and ever since we emerged in 2012, we have been so pleased to watch as more and more of them began to offer gluten-free menu items that were safe for our community to enjoy.
First of all, we want to give them all some mad props. We can’t express how great it is to be able to go out and eat with your friends and be able to order at least something, and in some cases, a lot of things, off the menu. At Gluten Free Calgary, we like to show some love for these restaurants by featuring them on our GFYYC map and now we’d like to take it a step further and hand out some awards! Read More

When GFYYC announced that it was looking for a new Ambassador to be involved in its day-to-day work of providing resources to Calgary’s burgeoning gluten-free committee, no fewer than three of my friends sent me the link to encourage me to apply. I guess you could say that my passion for living a gluten-free lifestyle is something that’s easy to see.

This week’s blog is a restaurant review, rather than a recipe, but it will make your mouth water just the same! As a Celiac, or someone eating gluten free, many cuisines can become trickier to eat – Italian, Chinese, Ukrainian, to name a few, but not Mexican!! The majority of the base of Mexican food is corn, so most of it is naturally gluten free, and all of it is delicious!
