Recipe: The Chocolate Breakfast Smoothie

If you are anything like me making breakfast is a daily chore. I dream of elaborate dinners and  fabulous lunches, but breakfast (aside from my morning espresso) I dread. One method I use to combat this sad phenomenon is to make smoothies. I jam pack them with goodness and gulp them down knowing that they will sustain me until my next more enjoyable meal. This would also make a great mid-morning, mid-afternoon or any-time snack! There is flaxseed which will give you some healthy Omega 3 fatty acids, fibre and antioxidants, hemp for iron, more Omega 3s and 6s, fibre, as well as protein and bananas for potassium. This recipe is sure to be a crowd pleaser. How could it not be? It has chocolate!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tablespoon of flaxseed
  • 1 tablespoon of hemp hearts
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 450ml chocolate almond milk

Method:

There are many benefits to using freshly ground flax. Grind flaxseed and hemp until powdery. Peel and break bananas into chunks that will fit into your blender. Add chocolate almond milk. Blend and enjoy!
