Munich is a wonderful city with unbelievable food. The bakeries are to die for—the only problem the city is not overly gluten-free-friendly. There are several pizza restaurants, a few serving Asian cuisine and very few that serve authentic Bavarian food. The Gasthof Obermaier is the exception. The restaurant has a very rustic atmosphere and there is also a beautiful beer garden where food is also served. The restaurant is part of the Obermaier Inn, so if you are really in the mood for this type of food, you can stay there and eat to your heart’s delight. They are open for lunch and dinner and take reservations – I recommend making a reservation as the restaurant can be very busy!
The best part – they even have a gluten-free menu that is truly Bavarian and delicious. I had the wiener schnitzel as this has always been my favourite and was not disappointed at all. Everyone in our group was very happy with their meal and I noticed many others having a gluten free meal and really enjoying it.
The service was fantastic and my server spoke fluent English which was nice. I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone and I look forward to having my next schnitzel this Christmas.
