When life gives you lemons – make whiskey sours!
On a recent trip to Kelowna we visited Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery.
This was part of the Okanagan Foodie Tour – if you’re ever in Kelowna you NEED to do one of Nancy’s tours! We got to sample their products and had a great presentation on their processes.
We LOVED it SO MUCH – we made our way back there after the tour was over! It was a patio and pubs tour… so we might of had some liquid encouragement. ANYWAY – we picked up some of their BRBN because we love a good whiskey sour. Celiacs tend to stir clear of whiskey since it’s derived from cereal grains. BUT this whiskey is made from corn – not rye! Celiacs REJOICE!
I like to make my own simple syrup. The recipe itself it literally two ingredients; equal parts sugar (or alternative) and water. Boil until clear, store in an air tight container and use when cool. But you can also pick some up at your local liquor store.
Making the perfect whiskey sour is super easy. Check out the recipe below!
- 2 parts bourbon
- 1 part lemon juice
- 1/2 part simple syrup
- 1/2 part egg white
Combine all ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake for 20 seconds then strain into a glass with more ice. Feel free to garnish with cherries or orange slice.
That’s it! Get ready to enjoy the frothy, sweet and sour goodness of this beauty! How do you make your whiskey sour? Share your recipes!!!
